Disposition Pre-Requisites

Disposition within the Smarsh Enterprise Platform is currently managed by the Smarsh Operations team and remains inactive by default in both tiers (Tier 1 and Tier 2).

The platform utilizes a policy map generated during the retention assignment process. This map ensures that at least one retention policy is assigned to each document within the object store upon successful archiving and indexing.

Policy Assignment for Tier 1 and Tier 2

• Tier 1: Policy assignment in Tier 1 is an automated process triggered during document ingestion. This guarantees that all ingested documents have a designated retention policy before archiving and indexing.

• Tier 2: Policy assignment in Tier 2 is an on-demand process, independent of ingestion. To ensure the smooth operation of Tier 2 disposition, it's crucial that the tier 2 retention assignment process completes successfully for all ingested documents.

On-Demand Policy Assignment for Tier 1

Customers requiring on-demand policy assignment for their Tier 1 data can contact their designated Smarsh customer representative.
